Customers can connect to AT&T Broadband Internet anytime, anywhere with dial-up solution provided by PeoplePC

9/26/2002

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - Customers on the go can now connect to AT&T Broadband Internet at anytime from anywhere. To give AT&T Broadband Internet customers more flexibility in accessing their accounts, the company has teamed with PeoplePC to offer users a Remote Access solution.

The Remote Access service gives customers a dial-up connection so that they can check email and surf the Internet when they are not connected via their cable modem.

"Our goal is to offer our customers maximum flexibility with their AT&T Broadband Internet connection," said Karl Ossentjuk, vice president of Internet services at AT&T Broadband. "We're pleased to offer our customers this valuable Remote Access tool so that when they're away from their cable connection they can still reach the Internet with PeoplePC's reliable and quality dial-up service."

For a one-time $10 registration fee, customers receive two hours of dial-up access each month. Customers can purchase additional connection time on an as needed basis. As users approach the two-hour limit included in the registration fee, they are asked if they want to purchase additional dial-up time. Customers can purchase an extra 10 hours for $5.99 per month. Or, customers can receive unlimited connection time for $10.99 per month.

"Broadband users want the benefits of high-speed access as well as the flexibility to take the Internet with them when they're away from home," said Nick Grouf, CEO of PeoplePC. "PeoplePC's robust dial-up service gives AT&T Broadband customers the freedom to stay connected wherever they are through our extensive network of local access numbers."

Once customers are registered, beginning a Remote Access session is simple. Users double-click on the AT&T Broadband Remote Access icon on the desktop and enter a username and password.

As part of the Remote Access offer, PeoplePC will provide round-the-clock technical support and customer care as well as billing. The PeoplePC platform offers a nationwide footprint with more than 7,400 local dial-up access numbers.

The Remote Access service is currently available only for PC users. AT&T Broadband is working to develop a solution to support Macintosh users.
